They’re here. The Xiaomi 14 Pro and Xiaomi 14 have finally debuted in China, launching as the first smartphones to ship with Xiaomi HyperOS and the first devices announced using the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 5G chipset.

HyperOS, which will gradually replace MIUI, is designed to power the company’s smart ecosystem of personal devices, cars, and home products. It’s focused on low-level refactoring, cross-end intelligent connectivity, proactive intelligence, and end-to-end security. Other HyperOS-powered products that were unveiled alongside the Xiaomi 14 series include the Xiaomi Watch S3, Xiaomi TV S Pro 85-inch MiniLED, Mijia Built-in Refrigerator 4-Door 521L, and Mijia Intelligent Washing Machine 10kg Pro.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is Qualcomm’s first mobile platform. It’s fabbed on TSMC’s 4nm technology and uses a 3.3GHz Cortex-X4 super core that’s joined by Cortex-A720 cores running at up to 3.15GHz and Cortex-A520 efficiency cores clocked at 2.27GHz.
What’s more
The more premium Xiaomi 14 Pro and the more compact Xiaomi 14 appear to be similar to each other, having flat metal sides. If you inspect them closely, though, the Pro model’s screen curves slightly down on all four sides and corners with consistent curvature, still looking flat but providing the smooth feel of a curved edge. Xiaomi calls it the All-around Liquid Display.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro is likewise equipped with a tough glass dubbed Xiaomi Ceramic Glass, which the brand claims has 10 times higher drop resistance and 1.25 times higher scratch resistance while maintaining high transparency. The OLED panel measures 6.73 inches, has a WQHD+ resolution and a pixel density of 522ppi, reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, and supports Dolby Vision HDR format. The refresh rate can go from 1Hz to 120 Hz, plus it offers DC dimming, 1,920Hz PWM dimming, and triple eye-protection certification from TÜV Rheinland.
The OLED screen of the Xiaomi 14 features most of the same display specs as the Pro, except that it’s 6.36 inches and has a 1.2K resolution and a 460ppi pixel density.
As with the company’s other flagships, the two newly launched units’ imaging systems are co-engineered with German optics manufacturer Leica. They’re similar, packing 50-megapixel main and floating-telephoto cameras with optical image stabilization and a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter. They boast Leica Summilux optical lenses that work together with the just-introduced Light Fusion 900 image sensor for a significantly higher light intake. It’s just that the Pro gets an f/1.42 to f/4.0 variable-aperture capability. The non-Pro’s main camera sticks to an f/1.6 aperture.
The better-specced of the two IP68-certified smartphones sports a 4,880mAh battery with 120-watt fast charging, a USB 3.2 port that offers twice-as-fast 10Gbps data transfer speed, and a titanium version. The vanilla variant, on the other hand, is equipped with a 4,610mAh battery with support for 90-watt quick wired charging.
