Following the global announcement of the JBL Authentics series in August, Harman, which is owned by Samsung, has finally launched the premium wireless-speakers line in the Philippines, alongside the JBL Spinner BT turntable.

The series consists of three speakers — the JBL Authentics 500, JBL Authentics 300, and JBL Authentics 200. You might recall that the Bluetooth-enabled Spinner BT was announced at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. It pairs with portable speakers, soundbars, and headphones for vinyl playback and supports aptX HD encoding to deliver uncompromised sound quality, despite the wireless connection. For those who prefer analog output, the turntable can also be connected to traditional audio systems and speakers via a cable — just don’t forget to switch the audio source to line-in.

We’re told the four are currently up for preorder on the local market. The JBL Authentics starts at P20,999 (roughly $369 converted) for the 200 model, while the 300 and 500 are priced at P26,999 ($475) and P39,999 ($704), respectively. The JBL Spinner BT, on the other hand, is priced at P30,999 or $545.

The launch of the JBL Authentics 500, JBL Authentics 300, and JBL Authentics 200 wireless speakers and JBL Spinner BT turntable in the Philippines

The Authentics obviously takes its inspiration from JBL’s rich history spanning more than 75 years (the audio-tech maker was founded in 1946), but it also incorporates the latest audio technologies and many modern comforts, including the ability to support both Alexa and Google Assistant simultaneously — which JBL proudly claims is an industry-first. Notably, the speakers are said to be made from 100% recycled fabric, 85% recycled plastic, and 50% recycled aluminum.

Starting with the Authentics 200, the smaller model pairs a 5-inch woofer and a tweeter with a 6-inch passive radiator, which helps create a deep bass sound beyond the capability of most speakers. Meanwhile, the Authentics 300 has been described as a portable, high-performance speaker, thanks to its built-in battery that’s rated for up to eight hours of wireless playback. It is the only unit in the series with a battery backup.

JBL’s top-of-the-line Authentics 500 boasts three midrange woofers, three tweeters, and a 6.5-inch down-firing subwoofer for a more immersive 3.1 channel sound. It’s also the only model in the lineup that supports the Dolby Atmos 3D audio format, making it the obvious choice for techy home-entertainment junkies.
