The RedMagic 8S Pro is now available for preorder in the Philippines at retailers such as Tekpone and XUNDD, following its debut in China last July.
It previously made headlines as the first non-Samsung phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 5G chipset, a slightly faster variant of Qualcomm’s flagship chip. Compared to the regular version, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 bumps the prime core to 3.36GHz from 3.2GHz and improves the GPU clock speed to 719MHz.
Locally, the RedMagic 8S Pro gets a suggested retail price of P47,999 (around $845 converted) for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the higher-end 16GB/512GB variant will set you back P58,999 ($1,039). You can also purchase the 12GB/256GB model from the company’s overseas store on Lazada for as low as P38,440 ($677), but without local warranty coverage. You’ve been warned.

The S-model upgrade brings few changes over its predecessor and features the same aluminum frame with a pair of programmable shoulder triggers for gaming. You still get a built-in cooling fan, which should help the device deliver the highest frame rates possible without burning your hands. It has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2,480 x 1,116 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 960Hz touch sampling, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Plus, the screen comes with 1,300 nits of peak brightness as well as DC dimming.
To deliver a more immersive viewing experience, RedMagic has opted for an under-display selfie camera with a 16-megapixel sensor and pleasingly narrow bezels on all four sides. For regular pictures, the 8S Pro is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera alongside dedicated lenses for ultrawide and macro shots. The phone also packs a massive 6,000mAh battery coupled with 80-watt fast charging, which should deliver a full charge in just 35 minutes.
