At an event that also saw the introduction of the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Watch Series 9, and second-generation AirPods Pro with MagSafe charging, Apple lifted the veil on its newest iPhones.

Just like last year’s series, the 2023 lineup consists of four models — the Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max — with preorder and availability scheduled for September 15 and September 22, respectively, for 40 countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The good news is they get the same suggested retail prices in the Philippines as their iPhone 14 counterparts. Which means the starting SRP is set at P56,990 (roughly $1,006). All of them now come with USB-C instead of a Lightning connector to comply with a European regulation adopting the USB-C as the standard charging port for mobile devices.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are designed with aerospace-grade titanium — a first for the iPhone — making them stronger and lighter than ever. They feature a new customizable Action button, so you can quickly access functions such as Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, and Shortcut.

Their 48-megapixel main camera systems now have the equivalent of seven pro lenses, ranging from 13-millimeter focal length on the ultrawide shooter to 120-millimeter on the 5x telephoto unit on the Max model. They offer 24MP as the default resolution, get some improvements to Night mode and Smart HDR, and turn images into portraits even after they’re taken, with an adjustable focus point for control.

The latest Apple A17 Pro, the industry’s first 3nm chip, unlocks an even more powerful gaming and performance experience for you. The CPU is said to be up to 10% faster than the previous chipset, while the GPU features a six-core design for increased peak performance and energy efficiency and is up to 20% faster. There’s hardware-accelerated ray tracing here as well, which is four times faster than software-based ray tracing, so playing console titles like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage shouldn’t be a problem.

As for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, Apple’s non-Pro models now boast a durable, color-infused back glass and contoured edge; the Dynamic Island, which was only available to last year’s Pro units; and a 48-megapixel primary camera system with 2x telephoto.
