Need a new Android tablet that won’t break the bank? Itel Mobile, a subsidiary of Chinese firm Transsion Holdings, just might have what you’re looking for.
We at Revü found the upgraded variant of the Itel Pad 1 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage already available online through local retailers on Lazada and Shopee. You might recall that the tablet initially went on sale in the Philippines with a 2GB/64GB base version. That model of the Itel Pad 1 now retails at P4,899 or around $90 converted. The new 4GB/128GB variant, on the other hand, is currently priced at P5,699 ($105).
The higher RAM should go a long way to help the Pad 1 perform better in daily tasks and games, not to mention, the extra storage will allow you to install more games on the device. It will provide more space for your media and files, too.
The price is surprisingly low for a full-size tablet with a 10.1-inch, 1,280 x 800 IPS display and a 6,000mAh battery that charges up to 10 watts over a modern USB-C port. Under the hood, you get a 28nm Unisoc SC9863A1 SoC, which is pretty dated these days, but the inclusion of a 4G modem for cellular connectivity is a huge plus at this price point.
Other highlights here include a pair of speakers for stereo output, GPS, and a built-in FM tuner. The Itel Pad 1 also has two cameras — one 8-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel shooter on the side bezel for taking selfies.
On the software side, the Pad 1 runs the Go Edition of Android 12, which is meant for cheaper, low-end devices that don’t have the hardware power to support the full version of the Android OS. The Go Edition comes with several quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to automatically save battery life and storage by hibernating idle apps.
