Well, that didn’t take long. The first Android device with an iPhone 14 Pro-like Dynamic Island after the launch of Apple’s iPhone 14 models is now official.

The Realme C55 has officially made its debut in Indonesia as the latest and most premium model in the brand’s C lineup of smartphones. Obviously, the bigger story here is Realme‘s version of the Dynamic Island, which the company has dubbed Mini Capsule.

In Indonesia, the Realme C55 will be offered in Rainy Night and Sunshower colors, with local pricing pegged at IDR2,499,000 (around P8,966 in Philippine pesos or $162 in U.S. dollars) for the 6GB/128GB memory configuration. It will go on sale beginning March 8.

The C55 still features a neat punch-hole cutout to house its 8-megapixel selfie camera, but it can also expand to display information, such as charging status, data usage, and step count. On the surface, it sounds helpful. But we can’t say for sure until we have the phone in our hands.

And while we’re on the subject, it’s worth mentioning that the Google Play Store has plenty of apps that can mimic Dynamic Island functions, and some are really good — if not excellent.

As for the design, the Realme C55 sports a similar boxy aesthetic to the Realme 10 Pro 5G, which we recently reviewed. At the back, you’ll find two large camera rings on top of a smooth-matte finish with a gradient color option. You get a 64-megapixel main camera assisted by a depth sensor for portrait shots.

Meanwhile, the 6.72-inch FHD+ screen is flat and operates up to 90Hz, while the touch-sampling rate maxes out at 180Hz. Its peak brightness is 680 nits, which is quite impressive given the smartphone’s affordable price point.

Inside, the Realme C55 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G88 4G chipset alongside up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage. It also runs Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 out of the box. The battery is rated at 5,000mAh and supports 33-watt SuperVOOC fast charging. Realme advertises that users will be able to recharge a flat battery to full in just 63 minutes, as opposed to 136 minutes on a device that supports an 18-watt charging standard like the Realme C35.
