The global variant of POCO’s latest budget smartphone could launch soon. Introduced last month in India, the POCO C55 appears to be headed to international markets (perhaps including the Philippines) next.
The international version of the C55 was spotted on Thailand’s NBTC certification website with the model number 22127PC95G. The listing further reveals that the phone will start with 3GB of RAM and will ship with a custom overlay based on Android 12.
Interestingly, the Indian variant of the C55 bearing the model number 22127PC95I shares similar specs as the Redmi 12C, which will debut in the Philippines on March 23. Thankfully, they don’t sport identical designs, as the POCO phone sports a faux-leather design on the back with stitching along the center, whereas the Redmi 12C has a matte finish with a diagonal pattern.
Both are equipped with dual rear cameras headlined by a 50-megapixel image sensor, a rear-mounted physical fingerprint sensor, and a 6.71-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution. And like the Redmi 12C, the POCO C55 is powered by a 12nm MediaTek Helio G85 4G chip with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10-watt charging. The two share a 5-megapixel camera for selfies, too.
In India, the base edition of the POCO C55 is priced from ₹9,499 (or roughly P6,255 or $115) for 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and goes as high as ₹10,999 (P7,242 or $133) for the top-of-the-line 6GB/128GB model.
