Following the release of the OPPO Reno8 T in the Philippines, OPPO has announced that another phone in the series is headed to the local market — as we expected. This time, it’s the OPPO Reno8 T 5G‘s turn on the spotlight, and it promises to bring several noteworthy features to the midrange segment.

(Update: Check out the OPPO Reno8 T 5G’s price and preorder details for the Philippine market!)

Among them, of course, is 5G connectivity, which the non-5G Reno8 T variant lacks and the Reno8 T 5G offers, courtesy of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 platform. The chipset uses a 6nm fabrication process, which should help ensure it delivers solid sustained performance. Check out our short unboxing video of OPPO’s upcoming model.

The OPPO Reno8 T 5G also comes with the company’s 48-month Fluency Protection. This theoretically ensures the phone will start, operate, and run apps like brand new even after years of use. On top of that, the handset sports a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and small bezels all around and a large 4,800mAh battery that supports OPPO’s 67-watt SUPERVOOC standard, allowing the battery to achieve a full charge in 44 minutes or 20% after just 5 minutes plugged in.

Those who like taking pictures with smartphones will be pleased to know that the OPPO Reno8 T 5G is equipped with a 108-megapixel Portrait Camera, just like the regular model, with a Samsung ISOCELL HM6 image sensor. The main shooter is likewise joined by a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel microlens camera that can magnify objects up to 40x, putting it near-actual microscope territory.

For taking selfies, you’ll find a 32-megapixel camera in a punch-hole cutout at the top of the display. OPPO has also included multiple selfie filters and portrait-style effects, if that’s your thing.

The brand will announce the local price and availability details for the OPPO Reno8 T 5G soon, possibly next week after the Mobile World Congress 2023 technology event in Barcelona, Spain, which we will be covering in the coming days.
