Make way for Xiaomi‘s latest handset for the stylish set.

The world’s No. 3 smartphone brand has made the Xiaomi 12 Lite official in the Philippines and Malaysia at an event held in Kuala Lumpur today, August 18. The regional launch also signifies the start of preorder for the new model on August 19.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite with 6GB fo RAM and 128GB is priced at P20,999 (around $376), and the 8GB/128GB version, at P21,999 ($393). Buy any — or both — of them during the presale period that ends on the 26th via the company’s authorized online channels, and you can get a a limited-edition gift pack worth P3,500 (around $63), which includes the following: Xiaomi Tyvek bag, Xiaomi Pinoy Bunny, Xiaomi Nightlight, Xiaomi Ceramic Mug, and Xiaomi shirt, notebook, and pen.

Take note that the device will also be available at Xiaomi Authorized Stores and official e-commerce shop.

The direct successor to last year’s Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, the Xiaomi 12 Lite promises a “versatile flagship experience for aspirational young adults.” True to its name, it’s slim at 7.23mm and light at 173g. The back of the Lite Pink and Lit Green color variants is a matte gradient finish whose colors change depending on where the light hits the panel. For those who prefer subtlety, there’s always the Black version.

The triple-camera system on the rear is composed of a 108-megapixel main shooter powered by a large HM2 sensor; an 8-megapixel ultrawide-angle unit, and a 2-megapixel one for macro shots. “When combined with eye-tracking focus and motion capture, the camera setup gives better clarity and quality to pictures and opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for impromptu cover shots,” Xiaomi says.

The selfie camera upgrades to a sharper 32-megapixel sensor, too, and features a GD2 sensor and autofocus capabilities. It’s housed in the centered punch hole on the 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen — another Xiaomi 12 Lite notable spec that, when combined with the unit’s dual stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos spatial-audio technology, allows you to enjoy an immersive entertainment experience.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset to give you access to 5G networks for a faster, more reliable mobile connection. You also get Android 12-based MIUI 13 and a battery that supports 67-watt fast charging out of the box.
