OPPO‘s A series of smartphones has welcomed a new member.
The OPPO A97 has been launched in China with a suggested retail price of ¥2,099 (roughly P17,615 in Philippine pesos and $312 in U.S. dollars). That’s for the lone memory configuration on offer: 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, which can still be virtually expanded up to 19GB.
Powering the phone is a MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chip that can also be found in devices such as the Realme 8s 5G and Narzo 50 5G. The SoC includes one set each of Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores with a clock speed that reaches 2.4GHz and features a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Its 5G modem is fully integrated for a more power-efficient 5G performance and better connectivity.
Keeping the OPPO A97’s lights on is a big battery rated at 5,000mAh and supports up to 33 watts of fast charging. There are also stereo speakers here that are tuned by Dirac — certainly one of the features highlighted by the company.
The OPPO A97 likewise packs a 6.6-inch 90Hz screen, a 48-megapixel dual rear camera, a 12-megapixel selfie shooter, a fingerprint sensor that’s mounted on the side, a 3.5mm audio jack, and Android 12 layered with the brand’s ColorOS 12 user interface.
There’s no word yet if OPPO will bring the A97 to markets outside China, but we’re guessing it will. The phone’s predecessor, the 4G-enabled OPPO A96, arrived in international markets, including the Philippines, after all. We’ll let you know as soon as we get an update.
