We’re getting a new POCO phone barely two months after the global launch of the POCO X4 Pro 5G and POCO M4 Pro 4G.
(Update, April 26: The POCO F4 GT has been launched globally, including the Philippines!)
(Update, April 23: The yet-to-be-launched POCO F4 GT and POCO Watch are confirmed to go on sale in the Philippines!)
The company has announced via email invitations that the POCO F4 GT will debut April 26 on the international market. The event will be livestreamed on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube at 8 p.m. Philippine time (GMT +8).
While the Xiaomi-affiliated brand hasn’t revealed anything else, we expect the POCO F4 GT to be the global version of the Redmi K50 Gaming model that went official in China in February. That’s because last year’s POCO F3 GT is a rebranded version of the Redmi K40 Gaming.
If our guess is accurate, then the F4 GT should be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. It should also feature a highly rated 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh and 480Hz touch-sampling rates and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection; support for 120-watt fast charging, which can fully charge the 4,700mAh battery in only 17 minutes; MIUI 13 on top of Android 12; a 64-megapixel triple rear camera; and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.
There should be dual physical shoulder triggers on the right side that you can custom-tune for games, too, as well as two JBL-tuned speakers, an X-axis linear motor for haptics, and a dual vapor-chamber cooling system.
In China, the Redmi K50 Gaming is priced from ¥3,299 (roughly $518 or P27,017 converted). We believe the POCO F4 GT to be a bit more expensive — though still more affordable than most other smartphones in its category. We likewise expect the latter to become available in the Philippines, unlike its predecessor.
