Some exciting news for the local market: Tecno Mobile has just confirmed the pricing and availability details of its first 5G offering, the Tecno POVA 5G, in the Philippines.

The phone will be exclusively available on Lazada and Shopee from February 14 at an “introductory” price of P12,990 (roughly $254 converted) for the lone Aether Black color variant. Lazada customers will receive a free DITO SIM card with 3GB of data for 30 days plus a gamepad. Shopee users, on the other hand, will get P1,000 ($20) off the SRP and a DITO SIM if they purchase the phone from February 14 to the 17th. For context, the Tecno POVA 5G initially launched in Cambodia with a $289 price tag, which translates to around P14,800 converted.

To recap, the POVA 5G is based on the MediaTek Dimsensity 900 5G chipset, which can also be found in devices such as the regular OPPO Reno6 5G. That phone was priced at P26,999 ($527) at launch in the Philippines. A minor downgrade from the Dimensity 920, the Dimensity 900 is built on a 6nm process technology and features two Cortex-A78 performance cores running at up to 2.4GHz and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU.

The smartphone also comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage; a sizable 6.9-inch FHD+ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate; a triple-camera array with a 50-megapixel primary sensor; and a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chat. Impressively, the device packs a high-capacity 6,000mAh battery that supports fast charging up to 18 watts.

On paper, it seems the Tecno POVA 5G is set to be one of the brand’s most popular smartphone models, thanks to its combination of gaming features, long battery life, 5G connectivity, and aggressive pricing.
