The world’s third biggest smartphone vendor is launching a new version of one of its bestselling handsets.
(Update, May 27: The prices have been revealed! Look.)
With Xiaomi managing to sell more than 25 million units of the Redmi Note 8 since the device’s launch in 2019, it’s celebrating the milestone with the upcoming release of the Redmi Note 8 2021.
The company has not divulged the launch date yet, but it did confirm recently that the phone features a rear quad-camera system headlined by a 48-megapixel sensor and a punch-hole screen that measures 6.3 inches. Xiaomi also finally shared the Redmi Note 8 2021’s back design — with colors to boot.

Redmi Note 8 2021 teased yet again
Those are the same specs, design, and two of the available color variants that the 2019 Redmi Note 8 has. However, Bluetooth SIG and FCC listings show that the 2021 model will use a MediaTek Helio G85, the same chip that powers such smartphones as the Redmi Note 9, Realme Narzo 30A, and Realme 7i. The upcoming version will likewise have support for Bluetooth 5.2 and 22.5 watts of fast charging and run MIUI 12.5, versus the Snapdragon 665-based model’s Bluetooth 4.2 and 18-watt quick-charging support and MIUI 10 user interface.
In the Philippines, the original was priced from P7,990 (roughly $167) at launch. Will the pricing of the Redmi Note 8 2021 be around that amount as well? We can’t wait to find out.
