Samsung has released cheaper versions of its flagship smartphones. The Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 lineups, for example, have the Galaxy Note 10 Lite and Galaxy S10 Lite.
(Update, September 23: And it’s launched! Read Official: Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, cheapest S20 series phone.)
This time around, we’re expecting one for the S20 series. A report out of Korea suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE — with “FE” signifying “Fan Edition” — will be launched in October. It will supposedly be priced starting at ₩900,000 (around P37,086 or $764).
Take note that in the Philippines, the cheapest Galaxy S20 costs P49,990 ($1,029), so that’s a significant price difference.
What will the device look like? Serial leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, popularly known as OnLeaks on Twitter, and India-based technology site Pricebaba shared a video of what they claim is the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. Check it out below.

If they’re correct, then the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is designed like the regular S20, what with an Infinity-O flat screen that curves slightly towards the edges. The display is said to measure between 6.4 inches to 6.5 inches.
The phone has a glossy, metal frame and a rear panel that’s likely made of frosted or matte plastic. In its rectangular camera module on the back are three sensors, a flash, and a microphone.
The power and volume keys are on the left side, while the USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and microphone can be found at the bottom. The top, on the other hand, houses the SIM-card tray.
An image posted by another reliable tipster, Evan Blass, seems to corroborate the video render, though the more recent leak already shows the different color variants of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.
Rumors say that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has 4G and 5G versions. It features a screen with a full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate; a rear-camera system that’s composed of 12-megapixel main, 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, and 8-megapixel telephoto sensors; IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating; and a 4,500mAh battery.
Earlier reports claim the handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, but it’s been spotted in Geekbench sporting an Exynos 990 processor. The likely explanation? The model tested here is something meant for markets like the Philippines.
