So our hunch was right. The successor to OPPO’s Reno 3 is indeed coming to the Philippines soon.

The company has revealed that the OPPO Reno 4 will be launched in the country in August. No word yet on whether the OPPO Reno 4 Pro — which was announced with it in China June 6th — will be available here as well. But in the email they sent us, the accompanying image clearly shows the non-Pro model. We do wish they would, though.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chip, the OPPO Reno 4 is 5G-ready. We don’t know if it’s compatible with the local 5G networks; so far, only smartphones from another smartphone brand have worked on the respective 5G networks of Globe Telecom and Smart Communications. We’re thinking yes, considering that both carriers’ 5G next-generation services will be commercially rolled out soon. In fact, Globe is looking at a launch end of this month.
The OPPO Reno 4 is a video-focused phone that can shoot in dark conditions courtesy of its Ultra Night Video mode and can produce stabilized clips, thanks to Ultra Steady Video 3.0. Ultra Steady function is now likewise offered when using the front camera.
There’s AI Portrait mode for muting the background and keeping only the subject in real color. There’s Night Flair mode for application of neon effects against a backdrop. And video-editing app Soloop is also preloaded into the new ColorOS 7.2 version that the handset comes with.

The OPPO Reno 4 boasts a 32-megapixel dual selfie camera housed in a punch hole on the upper-left side of its 6.43-inch AMOLED screen. On the back are three sensors headlined by a 48-megapixel one. For uninterrupted shooting, there’s a 4,020mAh battery with support for 65-watt fast charging. Of course, all the specs we mentioned here are those of the Chinese variant. We don’t know if the global version will have the same features.
In China, the OPPO Reno 4 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at ¥2,999 (around P21,130 or $428). The unit with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage sells for ¥3,299 (around P23,245 or $471). Assuming everything is the same, the smartphone will most likely cost higher in the Philippines because of taxes.
