Xiaomi is reportedly working on a device capable of up to 120x zoom, which, if accurate, would set a new record for smartphone cameras.
The news comes from an industry insider who has an impressive track record for reporting on Xiaomi products that haven’t hit the market. The phone is said to be code-named CAS and may be called the Xiaomi Mi CC10 when it launches sometime in July. The previous model is named Mi CC9.
The Xiaomi Mi CC10’s camera system is tipped to have a 120x telephoto lens that delivers 12x optical zoom and up to 120x using software to enhance the image
According to the insider, the phone’s most impressive feature will be its new camera system with a 120x telephoto lens that delivers 12x optical zoom and up to 120x using software to enhance the image. Its magnification capabilities will be greater than the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 100x digital zoom and 5x optical zoom.

Additionally, the Xiaomi Mi CC10 will likely sport multiple lenses and use Samsung’s 108-megapixel ISOCELL Bright HM2 sensor in its main camera. By contrast, the Galaxy S20 Ultra packs the previous-gen ISOCELL Bright HM1 sensor.
The phone’s zoom capabilities would come in handy for animal photography and should be enough to take great-looking moon shots.
Interesting that the Xiaomi Mi CC10 is rumored to feature the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G chipset, which has 5G support
What’s also interesting to note here is that the Mi CC10 is rumored to feature the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G chipset, which has 5G support. The Snapdragon 775G should perform better than the Snapdragon 765G, which is used by devices like the Realme X50 5G, OPPO Find X2 Lite, and Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G.
Of course, as with any unconfirmed report, we advise people to take this rumor with a grain of salt. You simply can’t trust everything you read online.
