And just like that, the Reno leak that we spotted on social media platform Weibo almost a month ago proved itself right.
(Update, August 14: Our review of the OPPO Reno 4 is up!)
(Update, July 31: Our initial feature ahead of the local launch is up! See OPPO Reno 4 camera specs, sample pictures.)
(Update, July 22: Coming to the Philippines! Read OPPO Reno 4 arriving in the Philippines in August.)
Both 5G phones, the OPPO Reno 4 and OPPO Reno 4 Pro are official, inheriting the chipset of the Chinese variant of the Reno 3 Pro. Hopefully, their global versions — or at least those that will be launched in the Philippines, if and when they do come here — will use the same processor, unlike the last time.
The regular model is available in Taro Purple, Galactic Blue, and Space Black colors, while the Pro comes in Sparkling Red, Galactic Blue, Space White, Space Black, and Pantone Green Glitter. And they’re priced as follows:
- OPPO Reno 4
- 8GB/128GB: ¥2,999 (around P21,095 or $423)
- 8GB/256GB: ¥3,299 (P23,205 or $466)
- OPPO Reno 4 Pro
- 8GB/128GB: ¥3,799 (P26,722 or $536)
- 12GB/256GB: ¥4,299 (P30,240 or $607)
The two smartphones are video-centric, with emphasis given on their ability to shoot in dark conditions courtesy of an Ultra Night Video mode and their wide lens’ capability to produce stabilized clips, thanks to Ultra Steady Video 3.0. Video-editing app Soloop is also preloaded into the new ColorOS 7.2.
On the back of the OPPO Reno 4 are 48-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel monochrome cameras. The OPPO Reno 4 Pro, on the other hand, has this setup: 48-megapixel main + 12-megapixel ultra-wide + 13-megapixel telephoto with up tp 20x digital zoom. But the primary sensor has OIS [optical image stabilization].
Surprisingly, the Pro unit has the 32-megapixel selfie camera of the regular model, but doesn’t have the latter’s extra 2-megapixel depth sensor. It also has a slightly smaller battery at 4,000mAh instead of 4,020mAh. But oh boy, both of the phones’ support for 65-watt SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging should let you fully charge them in around 36 minutes. Taking them from 0% to 60% should be approximately 15 minutes.

Screen-wise, the Reno 4’s is flat and smaller at 6.43 inches while the Reno 4 Pro’s is curved and bigger rated bigger at 6.55 inches. The latter’s display gets a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+, too.
We’d also like to point out that the higher-end of the two brings with it a new “Reno Glow” finish that makes the rear panel completely fingerprint-free and wear-resistant. Interesting.
You can easily see how the two handsets compare by checking their respective specs below.
