Almost two weeks after the top-end MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus 5G system-on-chip was announced, the first device to use it is finally launched.
The Vivo iQOO Z1 has gone official in China, with prices that are low for what the smartphone offers. Here’s how much it costs in its home country:
- 6GB/128GB: ¥2,198 (around P15,685 or $309)
- 8GB/128GB: ¥2,498 (P17,826 or $352)
- 8GB/256GB: ¥2,798 (P19,979 or $394)
The highlight here is the 7nm octa-core chip, of course, which is an enhanced version of the strong-performing MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC that was unveiled a few months ago. It offers four Cortex A77 cores and four Cortex A55 cores.
Some of the Dimensity 1000 Plus’ features include support for dual 5G SIM, carrier aggregation, faster refresh rates, and MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave power-saving technology and automatic adjustment of the modem’s power configuration and networks based on application needs.

With the said chip powering the Vivo iQOO Z1, the smartphone notched a benchmark score of 536,683 in the Antutu app. Not as high as ratings of devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865, but definitely one of the best we’ve seen. Plus, we’d like to reiterate that this 5G handset from Vivo‘s iQOO sub-brand is affordable.
Gaming-related things to know about the Vivo iQOO Z1
The Vivo iQOO Z1 is aimed at the younger, gaming crowd. Its 6.57-inch display has a refresh rate of 144Hz to help remove tearing in games. There’s Multi-Turbo 3.5 for boosting performance, liquid-cooling system for proper heat dissipation, a super linear dual speaker, and a 4,500mAh battery that charges quickly at up to 44 watts over a USB Type-C port, so you won’t get interrupted while playing.
