POCO is back! After staying dormant for a while (256 days, to be exact), the former Xiaomi sub-brand is finally ready to announce something big.
(Update, May 12: POCO is officially back! Read POCO F2 Pro now official. Price, specs, availability here.)
The company will hold a virtual global launch event May 12, and many expect this to mark the debut of the POCO F2 Pro, or Pocophone F2 Pro. POCO’s second-generation product has been in the rumor mill since last year, but nothing official has come out yet.

The POCO F2 might also launch alongside the Pro variant. The POCO M2 Pro, supposedly an India-exclusive midrange device powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, could be revealed as well.
So far, the only other POCO phone on the market besides the Pocophone F1 — as it’s called in the Philippines — is the POCO X2, which arrived earlier this year, but is essentially a rebranded Redmi K30.
Recent leaks suggest the F2 Pro will be a rebadged Redmi K30 Pro for global markets, so expect flagship specs and features at an affordable price point.

Xiaomi’s Redmi K30 Pro
Speaking to a source familiar with the company’s plans, tech website 91mobiles has speculated the price of the base POCO F2 Pro ahead of the May 12 event.
The 6GB RAM/128GB variant will reportedly sell for €570 (around P31,082 or $615), which is in line with the phone’s price leak for the Portuguese market, where it will start at €649 (P35,398 or $700). Take note that prices in Portugal are slightly higher compared to most other markets because of the country’s private copy tax.
Rumors suggest the F2 Pro will sport a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling. It won’t have a notch or a punch hole; instead, it has a pop-up camera for selfies.

Inside, the phone reportedly packs a 5G-capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,700mAh battery with 33-watt fast charging.
The rear-facing camera system will likely feature a 64-megapixel sensor, as well as dedicated lenses for ultra wide, macro, and bokeh. Moving on to the front camera, the sensor in the pop-up module could be 20 megapixels.
As for color options, the POCO F2 Pro is expected to arrive in blue, gray, purple, and white colors, just like the Redmi K30 Pro.
