Remember the Reno series that’s expected to launch as early as May and as late as June in China?
(Update, June 6: And the series is official! Read OPPO Reno 4, Reno 4 Pro video-focused phones launched.)
It looks like OPPO is sticking to the name “OPPO Reno 4” (and probably “OPPO Reno 4 Pro”) instead of “OPPO Reno 5” even though the the number “4” is considered bad luck among the Chinese.
You see, more images of the smartphone lineup bearing the said name have cropped up on social networking platform Weibo. A couple of them are even pictures of OPPO Reno 4 marketing materials inside different stores, which suggest that the 5G device should be up for preorder — maybe a blind one, where its price is not revealed yet — at any time soon. You can see one of them below.
The images show that the OPPO Reno 4 has four sensors arranged vertically on the back and encased in a rectangular module with rounded corners. One is primary; the other two are ultra-wide and telephoto; and the fourth is probably a ToF or time of flight. The highlight of the camera system is its ability to take pictures even in super-low light and shoot ultra-steady videos. Which is what we liked about the OPPO Reno 2 and 3 series.
On the right side of the back panel are the company’s branding and the word “Glow.” Along the left edge is the power key, while the right holds the volume buttons. Also revealed is the upcoming handset’s support for 65-watt fast charging.

While only the white and black units were leaked two weeks ago, today, we’re finally seeing other colors. We’re especially loving the peach — or is it pink? — variant.
The OPPO Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro in China, which debuted in December 2019, are different from their global versions; they are powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000L and Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, respectively. Could this mean that the OPPO Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro will use the recently launched MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus and Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G chips? Let’s see in the coming days.
