Where is the successor to the Apple iPhone SE? We’ve been waiting for it for a while now. But wait, there’s a new report saying that the device — supposedly called Apple iPhone 9 instead of iPhone SE 2 — will be launched soon. And when we say “soon,” we mean “April soon.”

Word has it that the handset will be unveiled April 15th, with availability scheduled for April 22. And there may not even be an online event; Apple may just post a press release online, just like what it did to announce the 2020 models of the iPad Pro and 13-inch MacBook Air two weeks ago.

The Apple iPhone 9 will allegedly get a $349 (around P17,809 converted) or $399 ($20,361) price tag, which should be great news — if true, of course — for those who want to own an iPhone but can’t because of affordability issues. By comparison, the cheapest iPhone SE variant that was introduced in 2016 cost P23,590 ($463) at launch.

Word has it that the iPhone 9 looks like the Apple iPhone 8. Expect thick top and bottom bezels, a physical Touch ID sensor just below its alleged 4.7-inch screen, and one rear camera.

Yes, it may not be designed like the smartphones of today, but the unit will supposedly be powered by an Apple A13 Bionic, the same chip that’s inside the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. If the rumor’s real, then the iPhone 9 should be able to compete with new and powerful Android phones performance-wise.

Could this be the Apple iPhone 9…

…or this?
