So the Redmi K30 4G will be rebranded as a POCO or Pocophone device in India?

In China, the Redmi K30 4G variants released have model numbers M1912G7BE and M1912G7BC. Priced starting at ¥1,599 (P11,527 or $227), the K30 has the following specs:

  • 6.67-inch FHD+, 2,400 x 1,080, 120Hz LCD screen
  • Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor
  • 6GB/8GB RAM
  • 64GB/128GB/256GB storage
  • Quad 64MP, f/1.89 (main), 8MP (ultra wide), 2MP (macro), 2MP (depth) rear cameras
  • Dual 16MP (main), 2MP (depth) front cameras
  • Fingerprint sensor (side-mounted)
  • 4,500mAh battery with 30-watt USB-C fast charging
  • MIUI 11 based on Android 10

What’s interesting is that “M1912G7BI” initially appeared as a Redmi smartphone on the site of BIS. The change happened after Xiaomi announced that the POCO brand will be operating independently starting this year.

If things stand as they are now, then we still don’t know what the smartphone will be called. Could it be the POCO F2 Lite, whose pictures and key specs got leaked yesterday? Or could it be the still-unverified POCO X2? Word has it that there will be three Pocophones launching in 2020.

The wait probably won’t be that long, as the company promised to post something tomorrow, January 22. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with POCO India’s open letter to fans of the brand.
