Another Vivo V17 is coming. We say another because when the quad-camera-toting Vivo S1 Pro launched in Russia, it was named the Vivo V17. So, this one that’s launching in India December 9 is not going to be the rebranded Vivo S1 Pro.
Confused? So are we. But just for clarity’s sake, we wanted to let you know that this will be an entirely different device.
Unlike the S1 Pro’s Vivo S5-like design, this Vivo V17 model has an L-shaped quad-camera setup on the back (like the Samsung Galaxy A51?), not a diamond-shaped look. The rumored 32-megapixel camera will be placed in a punch-hole cutout instead of in a dewdrop-style notch.
What could be the same are the camera sensors behind the smartphone. We caught a glimpse of the Vivo V17 in recently released leaked videos and pictures. The main camera is expected to be 48 megapixels, and it is paired with an 8-megapixel secondary shooter and two 2-megapixel cameras.
This is supposedly the Vivo V17
Under the hood, this Vivo V17 variant reportedly runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset mated to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
It’s expected to ship in Glacier Ice and Midnight Ocean colors and is reportedly getting a 6.44-inch OLED screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor. A 4,500mAh battery that supports 18-watt fast charging supposedly powers this smartphone.

Is this the version Vivo Philippines vice president Hazel Bascon was referring to when she announced at the local V17 Pro launch that the “more price-friendly” V17 will be coming to the country, too? Or was she really referring to the S1 Pro (look at the phone’s display in the image below), but at the time, the model name had not been finalized yet? Probably the latter.
