The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is launching in Malaysia May 27 and in India May 28. We have a feeling it will be announced in the Philippines, too — and sooner than you probably think it will. Why else did they invite us here at Revü to attend the OPPO Innovation Event 2019 in Barcelona, Spain, last February?

In case you forgot, that was where the technology giant showcased a prototype of the smartphone, days before the official kickoff of the MWC tech show.

You can’t blame us if we’re hopeful. We’ve seen videos and pictures taken with the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition by those who already have it — particularly those based in China, where the device is already available. And they look promising. We’re particularly interested in the Reno’s capability to zoom in on subjects from a distance.

To refresh your memory, the top-end version of the Reno has three rear cameras composed of 48-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 13-megapixel telephoto lenses. The latter can reach up to 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and because of an update, 60x digital zoom — which is more than the Huawei P30 Pro‘s 50x.
