The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite 8, which isn’t to be confused with the 10-inch MediaPad M5 Lite that came out earlier, is now available in the Philippines at a surprisingly good price.
The 8-inch tablet retails for P11,990 or roughly $231 converted on the local market, making it one of the most cost-effective devices out there with Huawei‘s Kirin 710 under the hood. The MediaPad M5 Lite 8 also pairs an 8-inch, 1,920 x 1,200 LCD display with stereo speakers tuned by iconic audio brand Harman Kardon.
Huawei’s new tablet is said to come in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB memory options (it’s unclear which version is available in the Philippines), while the non-removable battery is rated at 5,100mAh. It runs EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie, which is the latest build of Android.

In terms of optics, the MediaPad M5 Lite 8 gets single front- and rear-facing cameras, with the latter incorporating a 13-megapixel, f/2.2 shooter that can record up to 1080p video. That said, this slate is hardly the best option on the table for those serious about mobile photography.
It is, however, seriously nice for streaming content, browsing the web, and playing games with simple touch controls or physical controller support. It won’t burn a hole in your pocket, too, which is always a good thing.
