The Vivo NEX made waves at about the same time as the OPPO Find X, because just like the latter, it introduced a nearly all-screen design to the public. Gone were the big, unsightly bezels and in came a smartphone with a notch-less display and a pop-up camera. In a few days, you’ll be looking at its dual-screen version.
Yes, Vivo, through its Weibo account, has confirmed that what’s widely called the Vivo NEX 2 will be launched in China on December 12. It has even released official press renders of the device.
The NEX 2 is expected to get an in-screen fingerprint sensor. After all, it’s from Vivo, the company that first released a phone with a fingerprint reader built into the display.
The front screen reportedly measures 6.59 inches and is devoid of any cameras. To take selfies, there’s a triple-camera setup on the secondary, 5.5-inch display, and the said system also acts as a front-facing shooter. What’s more, one of the three cameras is said to have an f/1.3 aperture, which should get the honor of being the widest on a handset thus far.

But there has to be a compromise somewhere at this point, no? Because the rear panel has huge bezels. At its top is a circular module that is rumored to glow whenever the Vivo NEX 2 receives notifications and could even serve as an additional LED flash for the camera. At the bottom is the NEX branding.
Anyhow, a video has leaked out showing that to switch between the device’s two screens, all one has to do is to slide three fingers across the display.

Today, Vivo has posted a teaser suggesting that the phone supports Glove Mode for gaming and features liquid-cooling technology.
A listing of a Vivo model with number V1821A — believed to be the Vivo NEX 2 — has also been spotted in cross-platform processor benchmark tool Geekbench. The unit sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 10GB of RAM. And it’s running an OS based on Android 9.0 Pie.
December 12 is just five days away, so we should be able to get confirmation of most of these reported specs in no time.
