Enough of the teasers online. ASUS Philippines has confirmed the launch of the ZenFone Max Pro M2 in the Philippines. The date to circle is December 11, which leaves us plenty of time to speculate what features the phone will bring and how much it will cost locally.

Indonesia and India will also be welcoming the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 on the said date. However, we can’t give you any idea on whether or not it will be as affordable as its predecessor, the ZenFone Max Pro M1, whose base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB of native storage is priced at P8,995 (around $171) in the Philippines.

Given the likely improvement expected in terms of specifications and features, the Max Pro M2 could cost more than the handset that came before it — though we’ve been told it’s unlikely to retail for anything more than P15,000 ($286). We’ll see.

Based on the teaser images published by the company, the smartphone will get a notched screen, which will mark a first for the lineup. Reports say it will be one the first few devices to ship with the latest — and most durable — Corning Gorilla Glass 6, which can withstand multiple drops from a height of 1 meter.

Around the back, the phone sports two rear-facing cameras, in addition to a fingerprint sensor. The curved rear panel also appears to be made of glass or glossy plastic. Either way, it looks quite premium.

On the inside, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 will include a Qualcomm-built processor, heavily rumored to be a Snapdragon 660. It’s expected to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery as well. If the rumors do pan out, we could be looking at the most well-rounded Max phone ever built — fast and long-lasting as it is likable.

Naturally, we’ll be on the ground to cover the smartphone’s launch event next week and bring you all the important details, so stay tuned for that.
