The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1, which features comparable specs to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, is one of the aggressively priced smartphones that impressed us this year. It was first launched in India in April and eventually made its way to the Philippines in June. Now, we’re hearing of the impending launch of its successor, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2, courtesy of Roland Quandt of Germany-based site WinFuture.
(Update, November 17: It’s confirmed! Read this: ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 launching Dec. 11 in Indonesia.)
According to the serial leakster, the second-generation Max Pro model will feature three cameras on the back. That should make the ZenFone Max Pro M2 the first device from the Max lineup to get a triple-rear-camera system.
ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 ZB631KL = 6in FHD+, 13MP, 4GB RAM, 64/128GB. Snapdragon 660 (SDM660), Triple Cam
ASUS ZenFone Max M2 ZB633KL = 6in FHD+, 13MP, 4GB RAM, 32/64GB. Snapdragon 636 (MSM8953), Dual Cam
ZB632KL (non-Pro), ZB634KL (Pro) are likely India specific variants— Roland Quandt (@rquandt) November 14, 2018
Roland Quandt’s tweet, which, by the way, mentions the ASUS ZenFone Max M2, too. Remember the ZenFone Max M1 we reviewed in May?
Quandt mentioned “13 megapixels” in his tweet, but didn’t clarify where that sensor is located. Is it the one on the front, with ASUS bumping up the megapixel count from 8 megapixels the last time to 13 megapixels this time around? Or is it one of the three sensors on the back of the phone? We’ll wait for his clarification.

The variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, on the other hand, retailed at P13,995 ($264). Today, they’re available for only P8,995 ($170) and P10,995 ($207), respectively.
