In an effort to offer smartphones with less bezels and more screen, manufacturers seem to be following the OPPO — with the Find X — way. You know, put the cameras in a sliding module.
Huawei’s sub-brand teased the Honor Magic 2 with a slideout camera at its press conference at IFA 2018 in Berlin, Germany. A few hours after, Xiaomi posted an image of a similarly designed Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 on China’s social-networking platform Weibo. Now, it’s Lenovo’s turn to reveal that it has a device that could go head to head with the other two.

Lenovo vice-president Chang Cheng published on Weibo a video teaser of a still-unnamed phone. It’s almost all-screen, with a small chin and an under-display fingerprint sensor, which is a feature we had hoped the OPPO Find X has.

We wonder if the upcoming Lenovo handset’s sliding mechanism is motorized, too. Or if you only need to push the display manually to reveal the cameras, as in possibly the case of the Honor Magic 2 and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. We’ll probably find out the next time the company posts another teaser.
Anyhow, we sure hope this is not one of Lenovo’s marketing gimmicks. Remember the Lenovo Z5? Expectations were high for the manufacturer’s return to the public eye because Cheng had teased a notch-less smartphone with at least 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. And then we got this.
