Vivo’s next big smartphone release has been allegedly spotted in the wild courtesy of images uploaded to China’s Weibo social-media platform. The so-called Vivo X23, which we’re assuming is the immediate successor to the Vivo X21, features smaller bezels and the same notch design as the OPPO F9.
We suppose this is not surprising considering Vivo and OPPO (and OnePlus) have the same parent company.
The phone in the photos also appears to be encased in a black silicone jacket, likely to obscure the rest of its body. The power button of the device in question is located on the left-hand side, which suggests that the volume rocker will be positioned somewhere along the right cheek.
The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen reuses the same design from the X21, leading us to believe these images were not faked or manipulated. We can’t be sure that it’s the X23 we’re looking at, though.

As for the rumored specs, the Vivo X23 has been tipped to include the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 and at least 8GB of RAM in the base model. An improved in-display fingerprint sensor will also probably be onboard, with the OLED screen stretching to 6.4 inches this time around. For comparison, the X21 has a Snapdragon 660 with 6GB RAM, while the display is 6.28 inches.

Finally, the Vivo X23 is said to launch on August 20, as has been revealed in the past by Vivo’s Jovi digital assistant. According to the Siri and Google Assistant competitor, Vivo will reveal “something big” next week.
