Last month, we wrote about a mystery phone that resembles the Huawei P20 Lite and has passed through the TENAA Chinese certification website. It had been suggested that the device in question was the Huawei Nova 3 or Nova 3i. That would make sense considering it has been almost a year since the OEM released the Huawei Nova 2i in certain markets, including the Philippines.

Cut to today, and Huawei Philippines has posted a teaser on its official Facebook page confirming that a new Nova smartphone — likely the Nova 3 or Nova 3i — is indeed debuting in July, as earlier reports have stated. In case you missed it, the caption reads, “Something new is landing here soon. Any guesses what it could be?” It includes the hashtags #NovaStar and #OOOO.

The graphic shows four concentric circles suggesting the presence of, well, four cameras on the Huawei Nova 3 or Nova 3i, just like on the Nova phone that came out earlier. Recall that the Nova 2i is one of the first quad-camera devices ever with two cameras on the front and two at the back.
It has a HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor under the hood, while the RAM is 4GB and the onboard storage maxes out at 64GB. The LCD screen has a ratio of 18:9 and runs at 2,160 x 1,080 pixels.

Huawei has yet to divulge any details about its next Nova entry, although the TENAA listing has already given us some specific specs to look out for. Besides a notch display, the Nova 3 or Nova 3i is expected to carry the new Kirin 710, the Kirin 659’s successor. The processor has been rumored to come with fast Cortex-A73 CPU cores, in addition to a dedicated neural processing unit or NPU like the Kirin 970 inside the Huawei Mate 10 and P20 series smartphones.

The Kirin 710 is also believed to make use of a 12nm manufacturing process that will make for a notable size reduction compared to older chips in the midrange. A smaller process leads to smaller transistors, which allows manufacturers like Huawei to create chips that are more efficient and powerful. Rumor has it the Huawei Nova 3 or Nova 3i might have 4GB or 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage.
