Of the popular flagship smartphones that were launched in the first half of 2018, which has the longest battery life? Which one won’t likely let you down when you need your device the most?
WhyLab, a phone-quality testing laboratory of Chinese video-platform company Zealer, has ranked the top 12 premium models that they tested. And the findings? The HiSilicon Kirin 970-powered Huawei P20 Pro has the longest battery life.
This is another win for the handset. Remember that the P20 Pro debuted at the top on image-quality ranking site DxOMark and has never been dislodged from its No. 1 position until now. This despite the number of smartphones that were released after it was announced.
The Huawei P20, another unit using the Kirin 970 processor, comes in second. In a category swamped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-based models, Huawei’s own chipset apparently shines in the battery department.

How were they ranked? Three tests were conducted. The first was actually about charging — how long it took the flagship smartphones to get from 0 percent to 100 percent. Because how good is “long battery life” as is when it takes a lifetime for you to charge a device, right? And this is how the units fared.
The second trial involved using them continuously for five hours in a way that simulates how an average person uses a mobile. You know how it is. Check social-media networks, play games, surf the internet, take photos, make calls, listen to music. You get it. How did the phones manage? See the image below.
In the third and final test, all units were left on standby mode for eight hours. And the result looks like this:
How important is battery life for you when choosing a phone to buy? Is it on top of the list? Or you’re not that bothered about it because you can always bring a power bank? Let us know in the comments section.
