We already heard that Sony will finally get with the times and launch smartphones with minimal bezels in the Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ Pro. Now, a leak reveals that the latter might just be named Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro.
The device, which has the model number Sony H1866, has reportedly surfaced online, courtesy of an HTML benchmark test. The screenshot of the result can be found below.
The leaked image confirms that the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro’s screen will have the tall, 18:9 aspect ratio. The “screen size” shows up as 424 x 848 because of how mobile browsers work, but the actual panel resolution should be 3,840 × 1,920 pixels. That translates to a whopping 7.3 million pixels on a phone.
The screen — believed to be supplied by LG — is said to be of the OLED kind. If true, then the XZ2 Pro will be the world’s first smartphone with a 4K OLED display. Interesting.
Word is the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro will be the world’s first smartphone with a 4K OLED display.
This Xperia is expected be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 no less. The chip will be paired with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal memory. It will feature Android 8.1 Oreo, a dual 12-megapixel rear-camera setup, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 3,420mAh battery. And because it’s from Sony, it will most likely be water- and dust-resistant — just like many of the company’s other devices.
