Is Huawei planning to announce another midrange phone soon, possibly at Mobile World Congress or MWC 2018 in Barcelona?
Images of a mystery Huawei phone have popped up online. Industry insider Evan Blass first shared the alleged renders, calling it the Honor 8 Pro, though it’s most likely that the phone will be headed toward the U.S. market as the Huawei Mate SE.

The Huawei Mate SE’s price and specs have surfaced online
Huawei’s stateside outfit may have even confirmed the phone’s existence by briefly putting it on the company’s U.S. support page. Expectedly, the listing has been taken down now. The product page on the B&H Photo Video and Amazon websites have gone live as well — replete with images and hardware specifications.

That said, the Huawei Mate SE appears to take after the Huawei Nova 2i, which has four cameras — two on the front and rear — for portrait photography. However, instead of an extra camera peeking from both sides, the Mate SE has two cameras at the back and one front-facer with an 8-megapixel sensor, a possible downgrade from the Nova 2i’s 13-megapixel main selfie camera.
The Huawei Mate SE appears to take after the Nova 2i. However, instead of an extra camera peeking from both sides, the Mate SE has two rear cameras with a different orientation and one 8-megapixel front-facer. The rest of the hardware seems to have been copy-pasted from the Nova.
Another noticeable difference is the camera orientation at the rear; the Mate SE has two cameras positioned horizontally next to each other, next to an LED flash.
The rest of the hardware seems to have been copy-pasted from the Huawei Nova 2i: 6 inches running at 2,160 x 1,080 pixels; Kirin 659 processor, alongside 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM; 3,340mAh non-removable battery; and Android 7.0 Nougat.

According to the Amazon listing, the unlocked Huawei Mate SE will retail for $250 (around P13,000) before taxes. Meanwhile, the Huawei Nova 2i is currently priced at P13,990 (about $267) in the Philippines, from P14,990 ($287) at launch.
Will the company launch the Huawei Mate SE in the Philippines soon after its U.S. debut? If it does, it should probably consider a more competitive price point than the one we’ve already seen.
