Cherry Mobile is dropping the prices of select smartphones this holiday season.
If none of the current offers compel you to visit any of the company’s stores and kiosks nationwide, then maybe this will change your mind: For a limited time, the Cherry Mobile Flare S5 Plus will again be available for P4,999 (about $98), a huge markdown from its launch price of P8,999 ($178).
You may recall that the offer originally ran from November 30 to December 3. This time, the sale will go live tomorrow, December 8, until December 10, and will be exclusive to physical retail locations.

The Flare S5 Plus is one of Cherry Mobile’s premium smartphones for 2016, sporting a likeable plastic-and-metal build with a clicky home button that doubles as a fingerprint reader.
When viewed from the front, it could be mistaken for a more expensive Samsung smartphone, especially with the way the navigation buttons are designed. Its bargain price doesn’t translate to too many compromises, as the Cherry Mobile Flare S5 Plus bears a 5.5-inch, full-resolution display powered by a 3000mAh battery.

Both its cameras — 8 megapixels on the front and 16 megapixels on the back — have backside-illuminated sensors for improved performance in low light. Future-proofing comes by way of a USB Type-C charging port and an octa-core processor that supports the 700MHz LTE band in the Philippines.
