As with the Redmi Note 5A before it, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A could look like its predecessor, indeed — getting little cosmetic changes on the outside. The antenna line might now appear below the main camera and LED flash instead of going behind them. Though the leaked image does not reveal the face of the phone, it will likely still carry a 5.2-inch display of HD resolution.

Likewise, the specs of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A weren’t mentioned, but its selling points could include a lightweight body; a high-capacity battery that promises up to 8 days of standby time; a Qualcomm processor; and MIUI 9, likely based on Android Nougat. Nothing special. But then again, we’re talking about the successor to Xiaomi’s cheapest smartphone offering.

Xiaomi is expected to make the Redmi 5A official later this month, possibly for 599 yuan (about P4,650 or $91) for the base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The top-end variant with more memory should cost 699 yuan (P5,425 or $106), according to reports.
We’ll keep you posted once we get official word from Xiaomi.
