Vivo V7+ selfie phone with (almost) bezel-less display is coming

WE already know that the Vivo V7+ is launching in India on September 7. But what about the Philippines? While we didn’t doubt that the smartphone will be released in the country, it’s great to know that Vivo Philippines itself has confirmed that the V7+ is indeed arriving here.

(Update, September 6: The Vivo V7+ is launching in the Philippines on September 20. Can’t wait.)

The Vivo V7+ is the successor to the Vivo V5 Plus device that was locally launched on January 21, 2017. We believed the latter was one of the best selfie phones then — and still think it’s one of the best now, especially since its price has dropped from P19,990 (roughly $391) to a more wallet-friendly P16,990 ($333).

That’s why we expect the Vivo V7+ to be on a par with — if not better than — the V5 Plus with a dual 20-megapixel camera. It will be a great addition to the stable of selfie handsets that the Philippines’ fastest-growing smartphone vendor offers.

Based on reports, the upcoming smartphone will sport two cameras on the front as well. But this time, the main sensor is 24 megapixels. It also seems that Vivo has jumped on the edge-to-edge-screen bandwagon; the teaser shows a display, said to measure 5.7 inches, that’s much bigger than before because of thinner bezels. In fact, it says, “FullView display,” clearly the company’s marketing-speak for that kind of screen. This feature is something we approve of.

The Vivo V7+ is likewise expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor and come with Android Nougat out of the box. There’s no front fingerprint sensor in the teaser image, so it might be on the rear.

No word on pricing yet, but because of the recent price drop of the Vivo V5 Plus, the V7+ will probably cost the same as the former when it was first rolled out to stores. Guess we’ll just have to find out soon.
