MEIZU launched the top-shelf Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus in China just last week, but the Chinese smartphone maker isn’t done for the month of August quite yet.

A user of Chinese social platform Weibo today confirmed the launch of the Meizu M6 Note on August 23, which is weeks earlier than previously believed. The debut of the phone was rumored to happen September 6th.

A question, roughly translated as “Can you go faster?” appears in the event invite, hinting at the possibility of the M6 Note coming out with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor, as leaked earlier this week. The base model of the Pro 7 uses the same silicon, which sounds good given that the Note has always been Meizu’s go-to budget line.

Rumors have pegged the Meizu M6 Note to sport a 5.5-inch, 1080p LCD screen, alongside 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage on the regular version. A more expensive variant is likely to include 4GB of RAM and double the storage. Both handsets should ship with custom interface based on Android Nougat and are believed to have a generous 4,000mAh battery.

In terms of design, expect a premium metal build, similar to last year’s M5 Note, which, by the way, is currently one of Meizu Philippines’ bestsellers. Pricing might start at 1,599 yuan, or around P12,133 or $240, in the company’s home market.

If confirmed, those leaks would make the M6 Note one of the most attractive options in the category from a value perspective. Here’s hoping the phone becomes available for purchase immediately after launch, or in a couple of weeks after that.
