ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro photos surface, show a Xiaomi Mi 6 lookalike

AS noted in our previous post, we’re pretty sure ASUS will launch the ZenFone 4 in the Philippines August 19th, even though it’s unlikely the Taiwanese firm will unveil an entire roster of new smartphones in one go. The recently announced ZenFone 4 Max is a safe bet, but what else can we expect from the announcement?

How about ASUS’ rumored flagship phone, the ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro? Already, the purported final hardware design has surfaced online, which sounds like it’s ready to be announced. The leaked image clearly shows a glass back and two rear cameras, one of which is capable of 2x optical zoom like Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. An LED flash is placed next to the cameras. And yes, we realize it looks very much like a Xiaomi Mi 6 — a good thing, really.

Speaking of which, the ZenFone 4 Pro is speculated to share many key features of the Mi 6, including Qualcomm’s best-in-class processor and the ability to zoom in on a subject without compromising on image quality.

Hello, Xiaomi Mi 6 ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro. (Via Android Headlines)

A separate set of pictures that were leaked earlier hinted at the same design, though the phone in the photos appears to be protected with a soft case that covers the rear panel. However, the front is visible in a couple of shots, and the unit seems to be based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Other than those details, not much else can be gleaned from the images.

An earlier leaked image shows the ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Other leaks have suggested that the ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro could come with a pair of 21-megapixel sensors, but nothing is certain at this point.

Internally, the next ASUS flagship is rumored to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, alongside 6GB of RAM and 64GB of base storage. It may sport a large, 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with a super-sharp resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.

Pricing obviously remains a mystery at the moment — though judging from last year’s efforts, it’s hard to imagine the ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro not having a price tag that induces sticker shock. We hope the company will prove us wrong when the phone arrives this month or the next.
