15 smartphones with at least 6GB of RAM

IF your smartphone’s rocking Android, then you might be aware that RAM plays a key role in determining whether or not your device can handle multiple tasks at once without bogging down — or worse, freezing, forcing a hard reboot.

So it’s no surprise then that many manufacturers share the view that more equals better when it comes to RAM, never mind the consequence to battery life. Hence the modern phones that have 6GB and as much as 8GB of RAM. Crazy, you might think. Or is it, really? Because it seems the only way to make today’s apps and games fly on Android is to throw in more RAM than ever before. We used to think 4GB was overkill. Not anymore, not when split-screen multitasking is now native to the platform.

We’d argue 6GB is the new sweet spot, while 8GB may be too much for the average user. But hey, don’t let us tell you how much RAM you need. If you want the best experience Android can offer and money is no issue, consider a smartphone that has 8GB of RAM. You’ll probably need the extra memory down the road at some point, anyway.
