ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom official unboxing
ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom
ASUS joins the dual-camera fray with the introduction of the ZenFone 3 Zoom, its first smartphone with two cameras — dual 12-megapixel rear-facing cams, in particular.
One of the two is capable of zooming in on a subject from afar — farther than what the Apple iPhone 7 Plus can capture — without supposedly compromising on quality. This is thanks to the 2.3x optical zoom and 59mm focal range. Compare those with the iPhone’s 2.0x optical zoom and 56mm focal length.

The other camera has a wide f/1.7 aperture. And combined with a Sony IMX362 sensor, a large 1.4µm pixel size, and a six-element lens, it should let 1.25x more light to pass through to the sensor — great especially when you’re shooting in a low-light environment.
The ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom is no flagship phone; it’s powered only by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor; its 5.5-inch screen has just the already-standard 1080 x 1920-pixel resolution; and it’s still on Android Marshmallow. But at least it has 4GB of RAM and a huge, 5,000mAh battery with support for fast charging.
This ZenFone’s 64GB variant will be available starting tomorrow, April 7, for P23,995 or around $478. Each purchase comes with a free JBL portable Bluetooth speaker worth P3,099 ($62) and a clear case and earphones worth P699 ($14) each.

ASUS ZenFone Live
The ZenFone Live is the world’s first smartphone with livestreaming beautification technology. Which means whenever you go live on Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram, you can just turn on Beautification mode, and the device will smoothen your skin and remove blemishes from your face — in real time. Now, this is probably what video bloggers or vloggers would want.
To make livestreaming more enticing, ASUS has equipped the handset with two built-in MEMS microphones, which can automatically detect and eliminate background noise. The inclusion of this feature should mean better voice pickup and clearer sound.

Selfies were also kept in mind when ASUS designed the smartphone. This ZenFone’s front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with an f/2.2 aperture, a 1.4µm pixel size, an 82-degree field of view, and a front-facing flash. The rear, on the other hand, has a 13-megapixel camera.
At P6,995 or approximately $139, the ASUS ZenFone Live is a little bit expensive, considering that it carries only Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 processor. However, if that isn’t an issue for you, then you may want to know that the phone’s 16GB variant will be available nationwide starting next week.
