THE LG G6 made the rounds online and on social media after its announcement at MWC [Mobile World Congress] 2017, and soon enough, you might be able to officially snag one in the Philippines. We assume this because the LG G5 (click for complete specs), the outgoing G series flagship, is currently available on Lazada Philippines for P22,995 ($457) — down from its launch price of P34,990 ($696) a year ago.

It gets even better, as Lazada is throwing in two free items with each purchase: an LG 360 Cam (worth P10,490 or $209) and an LG K5 Android smartphone (P3,990 or $79). You don’t have to do the math to see how sweet a deal this is.

The LG G5 is on sale on Lazada Philippines.

We would have liked to see other modular accessories — or Friends, as the company calls them — paired with the handset, especially because the LG G6 won’t support any of the add-ons launched alongside the G5. But that may be asking too much. Better than nothing, we suppose.

And it’s not like the LG G5 is much less desirable compared to newer models. Despite turning a year old, which is like 30-something in human years, it still has a lot to offer.

The LG G5 and how to play with its 360 Cam

To recap, the LG G5 boasts a 5.3-inch, quad-HD LCD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.

Other highlights include a fingerprint sensor; dual rear cameras (one has a wide-angle lens); a removable 2,800mAh battery; and support for modular accessories, such as the LG Cam Plus camera and battery add-on and the LG Hi-Fi Plus DAC [digital-to-analogue converter]. The company has started pushing out the Android Nougat update for the G5 as early as January 2017.

There’s no indication when the offer will expire, but it’s likely that it will remain valid until stocks last. If the LG G5 sounds like your kind of phone, there’s probably no better time to get it than now.
