REMEMBER the smartphone with two front cameras that we wrote about two weeks ago? It’s finally coming to the Philippines! We already got an invite to the launch. In fact, the Vivo V5 Plus is now being teased on the company’s Facebook page, just in time for the local unveiling on January 21.

(Update, January 18: The specifications of the Vivo V5 Plus are already out. Click here for complete specs.)

You can also search for posts with the hashtag #PerfectDuo on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and you will already find Filipino celebrities-slash-brand-ambassadors talking about it.

The V5 Plus, which boasts dual 20- and 8-megapixel front cameras to give your selfies that bokeh effect, is deemed to be an improved version of the world’s first smartphone with a 20-megapixel front shooter, the Vivo V5. No other technical details had been released — until earlier today, when the device went up for preorder in Malaysia.

Underneath the hood of the Vivo V5 Plus is said to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor. The handset runs Android Marshmallow and features 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 16-megapixel rear camera. The full-HD screen is big enough to play games and watch your favorite shows up close at 5.5 inches. And battery capacity isn’t low; 3,160mAh should let you use the device for at least a day with moderate usage. Charging isn’t a problem, either, thanks to its fast-charging capability.

This Vivo phone’s retail price in Malaysia is 1,799 ringgit (roughly P20,135 or $403), so it should probably cost P19,990 (about $400) in the Philippines. Well, at least the guessing game is almost over; the launch is just five days away. For now, better wait for our review of the V5 Plus.
