It’s official: Samsung today announced it will host its next “Unpacked” event on February 21 in Barcelona, one day before the Mobile World Conference 2016 begins.
The date was unveiled in a teaser trailer, which shows a mysterious blue cube with glowing edges that form a “7”.
Anyone who has been keeping tabs on the latest smartphone news knows, however, that details about the Galaxy S7 have been previously leaked by reliable sources, so Samsung’s upcoming flagship isn’t exactly a mystery at this point.

The latest information to come out of the rumor mill suggests the Galaxy S7 will share the stage with the larger Galaxy S7 edge, as was the case last year at the debut of the Galaxy S6 series. Both phones are tipped to feature pressure-sensitive Quad HD Super AMOLED displays, microSD expansion, water resistance, and larger batteries, but don’t expect to see any efforts to overhaul an already great design.
The internals, as is the case every year, are likely at the top of every Android user’s wishlist, with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge strongly rumored to have a Samsung Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 system-on-a-chip, alongside 4GB of RAM and at least 32GB of storage.
The “Unpacked” event will be streamed live on YouTube and Samsung Newsroom in three weeks.
