The OPPO F1, first smartphone in the company’s F series of devices has yet to officially debut in the Philippines, but apparently it has been available locally, albeit in limited quantities and in select stores ahead of its February 17 launch event.
Dubbed the “Selfie Expert,” the F1 is priced at P11,990 and comes in two very iPhone-inspired color variants: golden and rose gold.
For the price, you can expect a smartly designed and well-crafted midranger powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 616 octa-core system-on-a-chip with a solid 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The hardware itself is mostly made of metal, fronted by a 5-inch IPS display topped off with a curved-edge Gorilla Glass 4.
Of course, the main attraction here is the 8-megapixel front-facing camera, hence the F1’s nickname. It features a large 1/4-inch sensor that produces clearer images than the average front-facer, as well as a wide f/2.0 aperture that allows for more light to enter the camera, all of which is aimed at producing better-looking selfies.

I’ll find out if that claim stands up to scrutiny when the OPPO F1 launches next week.
