OPPO today announced that the first entry in the new F series of camera phones is now available for preorder for customers in Vietnam and starts shipping January 21st. Other markets, including the Philippines, will likely have to wait longer.
The OPPO F1 has a metal, unibody design and a 13-megapixel, rear-facing camera with f/2.2 lens, which lets in more light than that of the average smartphone. The 8-megapixel selfie snapper comes with f/2.0 lens and a screen-flash feature similar to the iPhone 6s’ for better-quality shots in low light.
OPPO F1 costs 6.49 million Vietnamese dong, which is roughly equivalent to P13,800.
The F1 also houses a 2,500mAh sealed battery to power the 5-inch, 720p IPS display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 4. The processor tasked to run the show is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chip accompanied by Adreno 405 graphics and 3GB of RAM, which should be enough for multitaskers who want to keep a number of apps running in the background. The included 16GB of storage can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 128GB. Unfortunately, the phone ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop, not Android Marshmallow.
The OPPO F1 costs 6.49 million Vietnamese dong, which is roughly equivalent to P13,800. That said, the midrange handset is priced just right to take on the heavyweights in the segment, not to mention it costs about the same as the R7 Lite at launch.
