Cherry Mobile didn’t advertise that the dual-OS (Android 4.4 KitKat and Windows 8.1) MAIA Smart Tab is upgradable to Windows 10 when the company announced the 8-inch slate earlier this week, but it turns out it is.

It supports Windows 10, and upgrading to Microsoft’s latest and greatest operating system won’t remove the pre-existing Android software, even if you do a fresh install.

You don’t have to manually download Windows 10; just boot into Windows, connect to a stable WiFi network and let the Windows Update service quietly download the hefty upgrade files in the background.

The MAIA Smart Tab supports Windows 10, and upgrading to the new operating system won’t remove the pre-existing Android software.

However, if for some reason the download or installation process fails, you can simply refresh or reset the tablet (go to “Update and recovery,” tap “Refresh your PC,” and follow the on-screen instructions).

For a palatable price of P4,999, you’re looking at a tablet that has a 1,280 x 800 touch display and runs either Android or Windows on Intel’s quad-core Z3735F processor, which is backed by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

It also comes with a one-year subscription to Microsoft’s Office 365 productivity suite. The Cherry Mobile MAIA Smart Tab is now available in stores across the country.
