Cherry Mobile made another huge announcement today with the unveiling of a top-specced Android phone that’s sure to shake up the local tech community. You’re looking at the incredibly powerful and incredibly affordable Cherry Mobile Flare X — which I reckon is the higher-end version of China’s JiaYu S3.
The Flare X is powered by a 64-bit, octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset with a whopping 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory, which you can extend by up to an additional 64GB using a microSD card. The 5.5-inch IPS display sports a resolution of 1080p, amounting to a pixel density of 401 dots per inch.
It’s wrapped in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against bumps and scratches, too. Also on deck are all the connectivity options you’d expect from a 2015 flagship, including LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC.
The Cherry Mobile Flare X is priced at P6,999 and is due out in the first week of July. I’m currently using a review unit from Cherry Mobile as my daily driver, and so far my initial impressions are very positive. You only have to look at the spec sheet, really.
The Flare X offers greater value than any other phone I’ve come across, and it has impressed me enough to rank it above the OnePlus One on my value-for-money list.
On paper, the Flare X offers greater value than any other phone I’ve come across — and I’ve played with a ton of phones at various price points. So far it has impressed me enough to rank it above the now-discounted OnePlus One on my value-for-money list.
Stay tuned for my review of Cherry Mobile’s latest — and perhaps greatest — for my verdict.
